CHINA'S DISREGARD FOR HUMAN LIFE YIELDS LARGEST EMBRYONIC STEM CELL COLLECTION

HONGKONG, July 23, 2002 (LSN.ca) - The land of the one-child policy and forced abortions has yielded the largest embryonic stem cell bank in the world. The Straits Times reports that by cloning "more than 30 human embryos" it has become "the first country in the world to have an abundant supply of embryonic stem cells." The report notes that the "embryos were grown to a 200-cell stage, large enough to harvest."

At least five laboratories in China are known to be engaged in the research.
