LITHUANIA SET TO LIBERALIZE ABORTION AND REPRO TECH LAWS
Measure is Backed by Foreign Interests
VILNIUS, Lithuania, October 31, 2002 (LifeSiteNews.com) - On November 11th, the Lithuanian Parliament will vote on a bill to liberalize abortion and reproductive technology laws including public funding of the related procedures. Rev. Robertas Skrinskas, a pro-life leader in Lithuania told LifeSite that the bill is the initiative of three local private reproductive health clinics, one of which is owned by the daughter of the current Prime Minister Algirdas Mykolas Brazauskas.
The measure is backed by foreign interests and the mainstream media. Fr. Skrinskas noted that pro-life presentations to parliamentarians and petitions with some 80,000 signatures have been largely ignored.
