58-YEAR-OLD BECOMES MOTHER OF IVF TWINS
LONDON, February 18, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A 58-year-old woman has become Britain's oldest mother of twins after undergoing IVF intervention. Janet Bosher, a retired nurse, gave birth to twins named Sarah and James last September using donated embryos.
The treatment was overseen by Dr. Ian Craft, whose London clinic created Europe's first IVF twins in 1982. He last made headlines in 1997 when 60-year-old Welsh farmer's wife Liz Buttle became Britain's oldest-ever IVF mother.
Ms. Bosher's twins currently lack a father figure after Martin Maslin, the man identified as her "partner," died two weeks ago of a heart attack. If Ms. Bosher lives to age 76, she may see her twins complete high school.
