DRUG DEALERS DENIED CATHOLIC FUNERALS IN THAILAND
Union of Catholic Asian News reports today that the president of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Thailand says the Church will refuse funeral Masses to Catholics who produce or sell drugs. Conference president Cardinal Michael Michai Kitbunchu of Bangkok explained that these are "people who destroy society," and their drug dealings are "the acts of indirect murder" of innocent people. GERMANY TO HOST INTERNATIONAL CLONING CONFERENCE
Germany is to host an international conference May 14-16 in an effort to draw up common scientific guidelines regulating cloning. Research Minister Edelgard Bulmahn, who will open the gathering, called in January for a worldwide ban on human reproductive cloning but support human cloning for research.
