Adult Marrow Stem Cells Heal Burns Faster than Embryonic

Another proof of vast superiority of adult stem cells over embryonic stem cells

MOSCOW, October 14, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Researchers from Russia's Scientific Research Institute of Transplantology and Artificial Organs have found that severe burn victims heal faster when treated with their own adult stem cells than with embryonic stem cells. The experiment is another proof demonstrating the vast superiority of adult stem cells over embryonic stem cells.

Betterhumans, a news agency covering stem cell issues, reports that the researchers treated burned rats with embryonic and adult stem cells from the rats themselves as well as donor adult stem cells. Those rats which were treated with their own adult stem cells (autogenic cells) recovered in the shortest amount of time. Those treated with donor adult stem cells took longer to heal but those treated with embryonic stem cells took five times longer to heal. The control group which received no treatment took the longest time to heal.
