Growing Number of Groups Warn Against UNICEF Box Support on Halloween

TORONTO, October 30, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The number of groups warning against UNICEF and donations to the organizations through Halloween boxes has grown. The pro-life movement in Canada and the United States has warned against such donations for years. However in recent years the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute at the United Nations has warned against UNICEF as has the World Youth Alliance and most recently Focus on the Family.

In an alert from Focus on the Family Canada today, the organization suggests: "If your child has brought home a UNICEF collection box from school, you may want to consider writing a respectful letter to your child's school administrators and explain that, while UNICEF may accomplish much good for children worldwide, the ethical concerns regarding some of their practices cannot be ignored. Many other organizations . accomplish equal good for children but do so with standards that are impeccable."
