British Health Authority Calls for More Condom Use after 57% Rise in STD's
LONDON, July 27, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) - British health officials have seen a rise of 57% in sexually transmitted diseases since 1995, from 449,666 to 708,083 cases in 2003. Sex education campaigners immediately called for an increase in sex education for the young and for greater access to clinics specializing in treatment of STD's, despite the fact that these same measures were pushed during the time of the dramatic rise of the diseases.
Many of the diseases are new and many also cause permanent infertility in women. Recent statistics have shown that Britain has one of the world's highest rates of teenage pregancy and climbing rates of infertility in women. None of the government health representatives suggested that a decrease in unmarried sexual activity ought to be suggested as a solution.
