Kofi Annan Enthusiastically Accepts Award from Radical Abortion Promoters
Annan says to group, "You are a shining example" to the world
NEW YORK, March 4, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Secretary General Kofi Annan has accepted an award from one of the UN's most radical of the militant pro-abortion groups. Douglas Sylva of the Catholic Family & Human Rights Institute, reports in C-Fam's weekly internet news mailing that International Women's Health Coalition (IWHC), which Sylva calls, "a group working for worldwide abortion on demand for women and girls", was thanked by an enthusiastic Annan. The theoretically objective Secretary General thanked the group saying that the "IWHC and its partners provide indispensable leadership for the health and rights of girls and women worldwide. If there were more pioneers like you, the world would be a better place….You are a shining example."
The IWHC promotes and lobbies for abortion and sterilization under the euphemistic title of "reproductive rights" for women and children and is a prominent member of the international movement to limit population growth in developing nations. According to C-Fam, its workers are instructed to circumvent clandestinely national laws against abortion and the organization works to re-interpret UN declarations on human rights to include abortion. "For instance, according to IWHC, the right to life, the first right enumerated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, should include a right to abortion, since women who seek illegal abortions risk their lives," Sylva reports.
In his speech, Annan stressed the need for "achieving a deep social revolution that will give more power to women, and transform relations between women and men at all levels of society."
