UK Survey Reveals Teens Appreciate Conservative Values
Survey "a damning indictment of the damage caused by the lax attitudes of adults"
LONDON, UK, March 11, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A survey of 5000 British 12 to 18 year-olds has revealed that teens have more conservative values than most people realize.
Two-thirds of UK teens feel that there are too many abortions. Seventy percent said that cannabis should remain illegal. And 92 percent still believe in marriage, although only 60 percent thought that couples should marry before having children.
Four out of ten teenagers reported feeling regret about being sexually active before the age of 15.
The survey, conducted by UK's Bliss magazine, also revealed more conservative views on issues such as harsher punishment for criminals and the rejection of "bogus" asylum seekers.
Editor of Bliss, Helen Johnston, told The Guardian that "Teenagers like boundaries, they make them feel safe - but over the years they've been torn down ... This survey is a damning indictment of the damage caused by the lax attitudes of adults inflicted on children."
