26 Current MPs Not Running Again in Canadian Federal Election

OTTAWA, December 1, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) – So far, 26 Members of Canada’s Parliament will not be seeking re-election in the upcoming federal election. 

The MPs are almost evenly split between those who Campaign Life Coalition has rated as pro-life or pro-abortion and pro-traditional marriage or pro-same-sex marriage.  Notably, the majority of quitting MPs who are pro-life and pro-marriage are Conservatives from western Canada. A large majority of the pro-abortion, pro-same-sex marriage quitting MPs are Liberals.

1 Bloc, 9 Conservatives, 3 Independent, 12 Liberals and 1 NDP Member of Parliament will not be running again.

4 are from Alberta, 7 from BC, 1 from New Brunswick, 1 from Nfld, 2 from Quebec and 11 from Ontario

John Reynolds – West Vancouver-Sunshine Coast (BC) unknown on abortion, supported traditional marriage
