Couple asks Indian Government for Euthanasia Law to have Disabled Daughters Killed
KOLKATA, June 14, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) - An Indian couple has written to the West Bengal Chief Minister asking to have their two adult disabled daughters euthanized.
The request is tantamount to asking that a law allowing murder by euthanasia be enacted.
The growth of euthanasia in developed countries has been rapid with the introduction of the materialist philosophy of modern bioethics into hospitals and government. Many bioethicists posit that no human being is valuable for himself alone, but only for what his contribution may be to society. This ethic was behind the rise of the euthanasia philosophy in Germany in the early 1930’s.
The Indian couple, Abdul Rauf, 75, and his wife Anwara Bibi, 64, have cited the cost of caring for their daughters as justification for seeking to change the law to have them killed.
Before the Jewish Holocaust of the war years, Hitler launched his euthanasia programme under similar circumstances. Euthanasia was regarded as murder under German law but when a couple wrote to Hitler personally asking to have their disabled son killed, they cited the burden of the cost of caring for him. Germany’s elite, including large sections of the medical profession, were primed for legalized euthanasia after decades of the growth of utilitarian and materialist philosophies identical to those of modern Bioethics.
Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee indicated that the government was taking the request seriously when told reporters that he had been asked to submit a report.
Buddhadev said, “There is no such law in the country. I have heard that the USA is thinking about it.”
It is not commonly known that the gas chamber technology used by the Nazi’s in the war years was developed when the large number of adult and child euthanasia cases required more efficient means than narcotics and starvation. Gas chambers were, in many cases, constructed on hospital grounds.
