Children Arrested - Handcuffed - Trying to Bring Terri Water
PINELLAS PARK, Florida, March 24, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Ten people arrested Wednesday for attempting to bring Terri Schiavo water included three children. The handcuffed children, a 14-year-old girl, and 12 and 10 year-old boys, were taken away by police for trespassing while attempting to bring cups of water to Terri Schiavo.
"I am proud of them," the mother of the two boys, Texan Geilen Keys, said, according to an AFP report. "They are very mature and they said 'we want to go and offer some water to Terri.'"
Terri's parents, Robert and Mary Schindler, meanwhile, filed another appeal with the US Supreme Court.
Florida Governor Jeb Bush suggested that the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) take Terri into protective custody Wednesday. "Raquel Rodriguez, the Governor's General Counsel, confirmed that DCF has the emergency power to take Terri into protective custody."
Judge Greer, however, said Governor Bush has no authority to do so and is now attempting to block the DCF from entering the hospice and taking Terri into protective custody.
"When I close my eyes at night, all I can see is Terri's face in front of me, dying, starving to death," Mary Schindler said tearfully, Wednesday afternoon outside the hospice in Pinellas Park. "Please, someone out there, stop this cruelty. Stop the insanity. Please let my daughter live."
The Florida Senate also rejected Wednesday an attempt to save Terri, through legislation that would mandate that an end-of-life wish not be carried out unless set down previously in writing.
Catholic clergy who visited Terri told Tampa Bay's 10 News "her face is sunken in, her color is gone, and she has indentations under her eyes." Terri has been denied food and water since Friday.

http://www.fight4terri.blogspot.com is encouraging people to call Governor Bush - "Tell him to have DCF take Terri into protective custody now!" Their release urges. "According to Florida statute 415.1051, the governor can take Terri into protective custody. Your calls are making a difference."
