Depopulation and Abortion Advocates Top People "Screwing up Canada" Says Blogspot
Top most harmful: abortionist Henry Morgentaler, followed by de-populationists David Suzuki and Maurice Strong
By Elizabeth O'Brien
NEW BRUNSWICK, August 23, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The blogspot "101 people who are screwing up Canada," which has been gaining public attention over the past year, announced that the top most harmful Canadians are notorious abortionist Henry Morgentaler, followed by de-populationists David Suzuki and Maurice Strong.
In August of last year Tony Spinks launched his blog "101 people who are screwing up Canada." Basing his idea on a book by American journalist Bernard Goldberg called "100 people who are screwing up America," he asked people to send in suggested names and provide arguments to back up their choices. Selecting from these and his own ideas, Spinks has been putting up a new name roughly every other day since December 2 of last year.
The list, which finally counted down yesterday, announced the number one winner to be Henry Morgentaler. Supporting his choice, Spinks refers to those who think they can decide who has the right to live. He stated, "That's the problem when you start playing god and believe you have that type of impact on society. The stakes are too high and the risk is that you do more harm than good. How much harm has Henry Morgentaler done to Canada? It's enormous and will continue long after he's gone. Number one? There was never even a contest."
Major Canadian blogs, news services and public faces have drawn attention to the countdown. According to the blog, comments include, "A compelling title, building up to the #1 person who is screwing up this country" from CBC Radio One, and "I can't wait to see who's #1" in New Brunswick Politics. Major political blog The Calgary Grit also published many comments about it (see: http://calgarygrit.blogspot.com/2007/08/100-down.html).
The blog noted that additional comments came from CBC's Rick Mercer, who said, "Did I break the top 50?" Similarly, gay-promoting folk-rock musician Ashley MacIsaac commented, "I am very disappointed that I only made the 70's, I was hoping when I came on to this site I would be at least up around the top 20."
Finally, the site notes that Craig Lauzon from the Royal Canadian Air Farce stated, "While I agree with you that Alan Park is ruining Canada I can't buy that he ranks so high! 36? Come on, you have him ahead of #$%^& Brian Mulroney!"
The results are similar to other grassroots public opinion reports that have shown that many Canadian see the negative influence of abortion on the country. The Great Canadian Wishlist, for example, a joint effort between the CBC and Facebook, drew thousands of Canadian votes regarding what was the top wish in Canada. "Abolish Abortion in Canada" was announced the winner on Canada Day with a total of 9,543 votes (See http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2007/jul/07070305.html).
Similarly, less than a month ago "The Beaver", Canada's History Magazine released an open vote on who was the Worst Canadian. After receiving just under 15,000 votes, the magazine announced the top winner to be Pierre Trudeau, the political lever for introducing abortion into Canada. Number three was Dr. Henry Morgentaler, the top provider and activist for legal abortion on demand in Canada (http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2007/jul/07073101.html).
