Life and Family Catholic Church Scandals of 2006

January 5, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The following is a review of the LifeSiteNews.com stories from 2006 pointing out scandals on life and family issues within the Catholic Church.  The great number and gravity of the offenses call for a stronger approach by the Church to bring its own leaders and institutions into line with Catholic pro-life and pro-family teachings. 

While sex abuse scandals have rocked the Church, scandals on life and family issues also took their toll in 2006.  Topping the list was the scandal that Michael Schiavo was permitted to 'marry' in his local Catholic Church despite the fact that the Vatican condemned as murder his order to have his disabled wife Terri Schiavo starved to death.  Michael remained staunchly unrepentant for his actions at the time of his second 'marriage'. http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2006/jan/06012306.html

As Rabbi Yehuda Levin indicated in yesterday's LifeSiteNews interview story, "in Western Civilization and perhaps in World Civilization" the Catholic Church is key to a much-needed "moral counterattack" against those who are trying to destroy Judeo-Christian civilization. However the Rabbi, fresh from an emergency meeting with Vatican officials, says Catholic religious leaders have shied away from their leadership and need to take much stronger actions.
